Appropriate Punishment?

More regularly than I’d like I read about cases of animal cruelty.  Every time it makes me sick to my stomach to think how someone could treat their animals this way.

Most recently I read about Jacob Joshua McAlister who was charged with animal cruelty for letting two of his labs die in their kennel from starvation, dehydration, and exposure. Mr. McAlister will be sentenced this April in Mower County.  My question to you is in these cases what do you think the appropriate punishment is and do you think our justice system provides that?  Interested to see your comments below.

As much as I’d like to say he should be starved to death and left out in the cold–I know that’s not a reality. Perhaps someone like this should be doing some hard labor on a farm for injured animals or doing some sort of service for the Humane Society. Animals are vulnerable and he needs to give back to the creatures who he treated so poorly. Truly sad how sick some people are. What a great product of our great “Christian Nation.”

I agree with the previous poster – Aaron Humble. Also, these creeps are soooooo very lucky that I am not the judge hearing this case. I would absolutely throw the book at him! I wish the penalties were more harsh. It’s just sickening to think that someone could do something so cruel to a defenseless creature. Why doesn’t he just go off and hurt babies and the elderly why he’s at it! We’ve got to stand up for these poor animals – our friends that would (and do!) put their lives on the line for us!
